The Philadelphia Eagles are preparing to host the Dallas Cowboys in a pivotal NFC East showdown this Sunday, and Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert is fired up for the matchup.

Obviously, these two clubs are two of the fiercest rivals in the NFL, and Goedert fully embraces the disdain between the two sides.

“I’m a Philly guy and I love the hatred we have towards Dallas so hearing ‘Dallas Sucks!’ just gets me fired up,” Goedert said, via John Clark of NBC Sports Philly. “Because I feel the same way about them.”

Does this qualify as bulletin-board material? Probably not, as Goedert is just saying something that players on both teams probably already know and feel, but it certainly adds some spice to what was already an awesome upcoming battle.

Goedert is on his way to having another solid season, as he has logged 35 catches for 360 yards and a couple of touchdowns through his first eight games.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at South Dakota State, was selected by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He spent his first three-and-a-half seasons as the Eagles’ No. 2 tight end behind Zach Ertz but still produced in a major way, including a 2019 campaign in which he caught 58 passes for 607 yards and five scores.

Then, midway through 2021, Philly decided to go all in on Goedert as its top tight end, trading Ertz to the Arizona Cardinals. Goedert responded by hauling in 56 receptions for 830 yards while reaching the end zone four times which remains his most productive season to date.

Last year, in his first full season as the No. 1 option at his position, Goedert snared 55 balls for 702 yards and three touchdowns.

Dallas Goedert has yet to make a Pro Bowl, but he is certainly one of Jalen Hurts’ favorite targets.

The Eagles own the league’s best record at 7-1 and are one-and-a-half games ahead of the Cowboys for first place in the division.
