Eagles fans prepare Valentine's Day message for Jason Kelce

Philly fans love Jason Kelce and will do whatever it takes to bring him back. For one local radio station, that means playing cupid for the Eagles’ Pro Bowl center.

For days, listeners to Philadelphia’s 94.1 WIP Sports Radio were given a number to call to leave a message asking Kelce to return for the 2024 season. The messages will be played back for him during a Valentine’s Day promotion called, “Convince Kelce Day.”

That sounds great, but by his own admission Kelce doesn’t take the holiday very seriously. When asked about Valentine’s day on his New Heights podcast, the 36-year-old husband and father had a less-than-enthusiastic response.

“With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s about that time of year I start shopping for something extra special for Kylie,” Kelce said, ““That’s kind of a lie, I usually do it last second just like every other man out here on the planet. I usually get the same chocolates every year and the same flowers.”

So he’s not a romantic, but would he love to start a new career in 2024? With commercials, a documentary and his podcast, Kelce has become something of a celebrity. He even met with ESPN and Fox during Super Bowl week to discuss a potential move to broadcasting. That could spell trouble for Eagles fans hoping to see their six-time All-Pro back in midnight green another year.

Two years ago, head coach Nick Sirianni used two kegs of beer to lure his starting center out of retirement and general manager Howie Roseman shared a bottle of tequila to celebrate Kelce’s return in 2023.

In other words, it could take more than kind words to get Kelce back this time, Valentine’s Day or not. Maybe they should try some of those little candy hearts.
