The Philadelphia Eagles announced they have released three year corner Craig James Monday afternoon.

The news comes just eight days before the team was set to begin training camp.

Craig James, an undrafted free agent from Minnesota, signed with the Vikings after the 2018 draft but was one of the final cuts in the preseason.

Craig James joined the Eagles in 2019 and made the active roster a week later due to numerous injuries in the secondary. After multiple weeks of being signed on to the practice squad and brought up, James made a game saving deflection that resulted in a Nigel Bradham interception in week four. James would eventually play in 14 games during the 2019 season for the Eagles.

James was injured in 2020 and suffered through a bout of COVID in 2021 before signing a futures contract with the team in January of this past season.

The 26 year old was a part of a very deep corner group on paper. The latest addition of James Bradberry meant that there were 13 corners on the roster before camp. With Bradberry joining Darius Slay and Avonte Maddox as the starting group, there is a logjam of corners competing for the backup roles behind them.

Craig James appears to be the odd man out before camp even begins.
