Eagles' Jalen Hurts using unique motivation tactic after Super Bowl LVII loss

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts isn't going to let himself forget how painfully close his team was to winning the Lombardi Trophy in February.

Following a solid first full season as the Eagles starter in 2021, Hurts stepped his game up a notch last year.

The 24-year-old led his team to a 14-1 record in his 15 regular season games while recording a 66.5% completion percentage, 3,701 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions for a 101.5 quarterback rating. Hurts added 165 carries for 760 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns (second in the NFL), while making his first Pro Bowl, earning Second Team All-Pro honors and finishing as the MVP runner-up.

The former second-round draft pick had a monster performance in Super Bowl LVII, going 27-for-38 for 304 passing yards, one touchdown, no interceptions and a 103.4 quarterback rating, while adding a quarterback-record 70 rushing yards on 15 attempts and matching Terrell Davis' Super Bowl record of three rushing scores. Hurts surely would've been named the game's MVP if Philadelphia had won, but the Eagles blew a double-digit halftime lead and fell 38-35.

The Eagles and Hurts agreed to a massive contract extension in April, ensuring that the speedster would remain in Philadelphia for at least five more years.
