Eagles kicker has outscored one NFL team all by himself this season

Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott has outscored the entire New England Patriots team this season.

The Patriots fell to 1-4 after their Week 5 home loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

New England's offense was expected to struggle this year, but it would've been hard to imagine things getting this bad this quickly when the campaign started.

Head coach Bill Belichick's squad has seen its point total drop in every game this season, beginning with a 25-20 home defeat against Elliott's Eagles and then a 24-17 loss in front of the home crowd in Week 2 as well against the Miami Dolphins on "Sunday Night Football." The Patriots defense took advantage of a Zach Wilson-led New York Jets team in Week 3 to pick up a 15-10 road victory, before back-to-back embarrassing losses to the Dallas Cowboys and Saints.

New England's 38-3 setback against Dallas on the road in Week 4 was the biggest defeat for the franchise since Belichick took over in 2000. The Patriots were shut out by head coach Dennis Allen's crew at Gillette Stadium 34-0.

The last time New England had been shut out was Oct. 2, 2016, when the Buffalo Bills blanked their rivals 16-0 on the road in Week 4. That was one of only two losses for Tom Brady and company that season, as they eventually won Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons. TB12 missed the loss to Buffalo, as he was serving the final game of his four-contest "Deflategate" scandal.

Elliott has continued his stellar career with Philadelphia in his seventh season in 2023.

The 2021 Pro Bowler leads the NFL in field goals (16) and field goals attempted (17) and is second in both field goal percentage (94.1%) and long field goal made (61 yards).

Ranked just ahead of the bottom-feeding Patriots offense in points scored are the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Giants, who've scored 62 points apiece. The Raiders play on "Monday Night Football" against the Green Bay Packers in Week 5, so they are likely to distance themselves a bit.

The G-Men's struggling offense goes on the road to face the Buffalo Bills' stout defense in Week 6. If New York is held to single-digit points next time out, Elliott could conceivably pass another team during his hot start.
