Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Brian Johnson could be moving up in the ranks, even after dropping the 2023 regular season.

Johnson has now had interest from three different teams for their open head coach jobs.

The Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans requested to interview Johnson last week and this Thursday we learned that the Atlanta Falcons have already wrapped up an interview with Johnson, making them the third team to show interest in him.

Before taking over the Eagles' offensive coordinator job from Shane Steichen this past season, Johnson coached the Birds' quarterbacks and has been credited for developing Jalen Hurts.

Under Johnson, Philly's offense finished the 2023 regular season ranked seventh in points scored, eighth in total yards, fourth in first downs and third in third-down conversions. They were inconsistent in the red zone this season but managed to finish ninth in red zone scoring.

Johnson will be up against plenty of competition as the Falcons are interested in 11 other candidates:

  • Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald
  • Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan
  • San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Steve Wilks
  • Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero
  • Ravens defensive line coach and associate head coach Anthony Weaver
  • Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce
  • Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick
  • University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh
  • Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris
  • Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn
  • Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson

The Falcons have already interviewed a handful of head coach candidates on their list.

For now, Belichick is the only coach who is scheduled to meet with Atlanta for a second interview.
