Eagles significant betting favorites to win NFC East after Dak Prescott injury

The day after the opening Sunday of any NFL regular season is commonly referred to as "overreaction Monday" due to what often become ridiculous takes offered by fans and analysts alike on television and radio programs and also in published pieces.

With that said, it's difficult to overreact to the state of the Dallas Cowboys coming off their Week 1 19-3 home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Dallas starting quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a serious thumb injury during the defeat, and reports say he could be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks.

Meanwhile, the other three NFC East teams notched victories on Sunday. Specifically, the Philadelphia Eagles did well to win at the Detroit Lions, 38-35. Following that result, Jeff Neiburg of The Action Network (h/t The Philadelphia Inquirer) noted that FanDuel Sportsbook has the Eagles as the "commanding" betting favorites at -130 to win the division.

Second on the list are the Washington Commanders at +400. Washington beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-22 at home. The New York Giants won at the Tennessee Titans 21-20 and are at +490. Dallas is now the betting underdog to win the NFC East at +500.

The Cowboys are currently on track to start backup Cooper Rush against the 0-1 Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday but are being linked in rumors with San Francisco 49ers veteran Jimmy Garoppolo and Pittsburgh Steelers third-stringer Mason Rudolph. Such a trade could improve the Cowboys' betting odds to win the division depending on their record at the time the transaction is made.
