Eagles working out former first-round pick who hasn't played since 2020 season

It's been 10 years since offensive lineman D.J. Fluker was taken as a first-round draft pick and nearly three years since he's played in an NFL game.

According to multiple reports, the Philadelphia Eagles are working out the 32-year-old on Wednesday.

Pro Football Reference lists Fluker's playing weight at 342 pounds from his eight seasons from 2013-20, so he may now be looking to get back on the field at under 300 pounds.

He was selected by the then-San Diego Chargers as the 11th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama. Fluker played 108 regular season games (making 96 starts) during his time with the Chargers, New York Giants, Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens. He played in all 16 of the Ravens regular season games during the 2020 campaign (plus their two playoff contests), making eight starts, but was on the field for a career-low 52% of the offensive snaps.

Although Fluker didn't play in any games in 2021, he had stints on the practice squad for the Miami Dolphins, Las Vegas Raiders and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Among the projected starters on the Eagles offensive line are right guard Cam Jurgens, All-Pro center Jason Kelce, left tackle Jordan Mailata, Pro Bowl left guard Landon Dickerson and All-Pro right tackle Lane Johnson.

According to NBC Sports Philadelphia's Dave Zangaro, Fluker has at least two prior connections to the Eagles in Philadelphia's offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and head coach Nick Sirianni. Per Zangaro, Fluker was coached by Stoutland for two seasons with the Crimson Tide before the lineman was drafted 10 years ago. Furthermore, Zangaro notes that Sirianni was a part of the Chargers coaching staff during Fluker's run in San Diego.
