Eagles WR Devon Allen qualifies for World Outdoor Track and Field Championships

Rookie wide receiver Devon Allen is looking forward to his first season with the Philadelphia Eagles, but he also isn't letting his career as an Olympic hurdler completely fade away.

The University of Oregon product finished third in the men's 110-meter hurdles over the weekend, which was good enough to qualify for the World Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., next month.

The Eagles signed the 27-year-old to a three-year deal after he ran a 4.35 40-yard dash at Oregon's Pro Day back in April. Allen admitted he thinks he would have already been playing in the NFL if he hadn't suffered two ACL injuries in college.

"If I didn't have any knee injuries in college, I probably would have been in the NFL for five years by now," Allen told the New York Times. "I probably would have just gone the draft route and found out what I could do in the off-season with track."

Allen hasn't played in a football game since his senior year at Oregon in 2016, when he suffered his second ACL injury. He signed a professional track-and-field contract and finished fifth in the men's 110-meter hurdles at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio.
