Getting torched by a wide receiver from the 2021 draft class is becoming a theme for the Washington Commanders defense. Last week it was Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions . This week it’s Philadelphia Eagles wideout DeVonta Smith.

Smith collected a career-high 156 receiving yards in the first half against the Commanders. With all the attention focused on AJ Brown, it’s been Smith that’s stolen the show.

His breakout half is highlighted by an amazing snag over the middle. Smith high-pointed the ball over the head of Commanders cornerback Kendall Fuller for a 44-yard pickup.

Then on 4th and goal with the final seconds ticking on the first half, quarterback Jalen Hurts hooked up with Smith in the corner of the end zone for a touchdown to complete the drive. Again it was Smith over Fuller.

Eagles players celebrated Smith with a Batman cape:

Smith had seven catches for 156 yards in the first 30 minutes of the game. Brown added four catches for 75 yards and a touchdown. Meanwhile, their QB, Hurts, threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns, as the Eagles took a 24-0 lead into halftime.
