When the NFL first booked the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs matchup for the final week of the regular season, they did so under the assumption that it would be Justin Herbert facing off against Patrick Mahomes. Instead, it will be Easton Stick facing Blaine Gabbert.

Stick spoke about what it means for him to have the chance to start games for the Chargers.

He knows that he may not get another chance anytime soon, so he is trying to make the most of it all, according to Joe Reedy of The Associated Press.

“You do this because you want to play, you want to compete, and that’s what you miss when you’re not in there,” Stick said. “It’s been a blast, every minute of it — the ups and downs. It’s been awesome. Like I said, I’m really grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to ending it the right way.”

The Chargers' signal-caller isn't just showcasing his talents for the Bolts, but rather the rest of the league as well. Other teams are watching him to see how he performs, and maybe it leads to him getting a new job.

After taking over for Herbert due to injury, Stick has shown some promise. There have been some growing pains as well, but that is to be expected.

On the year, he has thrown for 871 yards with three touchdowns and one interception. He is a serviceable backup quarterback, and the Chargers are at least getting to see what he can do.

The goal is to end the year on a high note, which would mean taking down Kansas City. The Bolts have had a very frustrating year, so getting a win would be massive for the morale of the team.
