Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love. Dan Powers-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers had many goals in 2023, but there was one that stood out above the rest in terms of the future for the organization: figure out if Jordan Love can be the next franchise quarterback. The answer, of course, was a resounding “yes” as he had a better first season as a starter than either Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre.

Everything else — the winning record, the playoff spot, an unexpected win over the Dallas Cowboys in the wild-card round? All bonuses compared to knowing that the quarterback position, once again, is in good hands for the foreseeable future.

After completing 64.2% of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in his first year starting, the sky is the limit for what he can accomplish in the NFL.

A couple of ESPN NFL analysts think next season will be the year that Love truly cements himself as the next great Packers quarterback, joining the likes of Bart Starr, Favre and Rodgers by winning the MVP award.

Matt Bowen, who also believes the Packers will win Super Bowl LIX next season, picked Love for his early NFL MVP choice. He wrote:

“Love has a dynamic and versatile group of pass-catchers, plus a system that maximizes his throwing traits. He’s in position to produce high-end numbers for a championship-level team.”

In other words, Love has all the tools around him that he needs in order to be successful. When he and everyone else comes back even better in 2024, the Packers could be a very dangerous team.

Lindsey Thiry agreed:

"In his first season as a starter and surrounded by youth at the skill positions, Love surged from Week 11 on, leading the NFL in QBR, touchdown-to-interception ratio and combined touchdowns. Watch for Love to continue to progress and flourish under coach Matt LaFleur."

LaFleur certainly deserves a ton of credit for how he helped develop Love, and for having the vision of what he could be when the Packers moved up to take him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
