Ex-Patriots DT goes off on Bill Belichick for shunning him after loss

Las Vegas Raiders defensive tackle Adam Butler spent the first four years of his career playing for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

So when his former head coach ignored him after the Raiders edged the Patriots 21-17 on Sunday, Butler took it personally.

“It did make me very upset that Bill didn’t even have the respect for me to say anything after the game,” Butler said, via 8 News Now’s Logan Reever. “You know, not even congratulate me, tell me ‘You look good,’ whatever. Kiss my a--, something. But he didn’t say anything. So, I kind of felt disrespected, it kind of made me feel bad.”

In Sunday’s win, Butler showed out in front of his former team. He sacked Patriots QB Mac Jones once while logging two tackles, two pressures, a QB hit and a tackle for loss. It was his first sack of the season and his first since last December when he was a member of the Miami Dolphins.

Butler played for Belichick, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt, from 2017 to 2020. He totaled 96 tackles, 107 pressures, 22 QB hits, 20 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, nine passes defensed and one forced fumble during his Patriots tenure.

The 29-year-old defensive lineman appeared to chalk Belichick’s actions up to the turbulent times going on in New England.

“Coach Belichick has bigger things to worry about, obviously, they’re going through a tough time, but s---, say hey or something,” Butler added.
