Falcons release RB Mike Davis after one season
The Atlanta Falcons are releasing running back Mike Davis after just one season, multiple sources confirmed on Monday morning. The 29-year-old Atlanta native signed a two-year deal with his hometown team last March.
Davis joined the Falcons after a successful run with Carolina Panthers, where he had 165 carries for 642 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. He faired well in Atlanta, tallying 138 carries for 503 yards and three touchdowns over 17 games last year, but lost out on the starting job to Cordarrelle Patterson.
He has rushed for 2,034 yards with 14 TDs over a 79-game career spent with San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Carolina, and Atlanta.
Davis confirmed his release in a tweet on Monday morning.
