Five-time Pro Bowl WR Demaryius Thomas dead at age 33, according to reports
Former Denver Broncos star wide receiver Demaryius Thomas is dead at age 33, according to multiple reports. The cause of death is still unknown.
Thomas was a first-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and had a relatively slow start to his career before breaking out with a huge season in 2012. Over a five-year span beginning in 2012, Thomas tallied 6,870 receiving yards with 46 touchdowns and earned five spots in the Pro Bowl.
Perhaps his most famous moment came during an AFC Wild Card game in January 2012 when Thomas broke loose on the first play of overtime for a game-winning, 80-yard touchdown.
In 2018, Thomas was traded by the Broncos to the Houston Texans just ahead of the trade deadline. He later had brief stints with the New England Patriots and New York Jets. Thomas officially retired in June 2021 after not playing during the 2020 season.
Thomas is second all-time in Broncos history in receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, behind only Rod Smith in both categories.
