The last year has been very, very good to Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan.

Khan hit a home run last spring with the hiring of head coach Doug Pederson, who subsequently led the Jaguars to a 9-8 record and the second AFC South title of Khan's decade-long ownership. And according to Forbes, Khan won off the field, too.

In Forbes' list of the richest people on the planet, Khan came in at No. 144 with a net worth of $12.1 billion. For comparison, Khan had a net worth of $7.6 billion the year prior, showing a 59.6% increase in net worth for the Jaguars and Fulham Football Club owner. This year, those who are worth $7.6 billion are tied for the 290th richest person in the world, showing just how big of a leap Khan made off the field.

Khan's net worth makes him the fifth richest NFL owner. He is behind Denver Broncos owner Rob Walton ($58.8 billion), Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper ($18.5 billion), Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ($13.3 billion), and Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke ($12.9 billion).

Khan purchased the Jaguars in 2011 for $770 million. Forbes' latest evaluation of the Jaguars' worth has them at $3.475 billion, reflecting the gains Khan has made on his investment.

With Khan at the helm, Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke running the football operations, and Trevor Lawrence at quarterback, the present and the future look as bright as they ever have during the Khan era.

"Well, the vibe I get is that, you know, I think we've cracked the code," Khan said during an interview with Jaguars reporter John Oehser at the annual owners meetings in Phoenix last week. "You know, we've got a great head coach, we got a great general manager, and we have a great quarterback. And that's the trifecta for success in the NFL."

"I think it's taken a while but I'm glad it's happening. I'm glad for me. I'm glad for all the fans," Khan said.
