Former All-Pro WR Josh Gordon officially signs with Chiefs after reinstatement

It was learned last Friday that former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon was set to be reinstated from his most recent suspension related to violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy, and ESPN's Adam Schefter later reported Gordon was planning to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network tweeted Tuesday that Gordon passed his physical and put pen to paper on a deal with the Chiefs. The 30-year-old could be promoted to the active roster for this Sunday's matchup at the 1-2 Philadelphia Eagles.

Gordon addressed the news via Twitter on Monday:

Gordon earned his only All-Pro nod with the Cleveland Browns in 2013 when he recorded 87 receptions for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns but has since repeatedly earned bans throughout a public battle with substance abuse. He last played with the Seattle Seahawks in 2019 and was attempting another comeback in late 2020, but he had a conditional reinstatement rescinded after he reportedly suffered a setback that some feared at the time could've ended a once-promising career.

According to Schefter, multiple teams recently contacted Gordon, but his agents told ESPN the receiver wants to spend "multiple seasons" with the Chiefs.
