Former Eagles QB offers advice for Jalen Hurts ahead of Super Bowl

Five years ago, Nick Foles led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl victory. Now, he’s offering advice to Jalen Hurts a week before this year’s big game.

“You’ve just got to block out the noise,” Foles told the Philadelphia Inquirer. “Honestly, I only really talked to my wife during the two weeks leading up to it.”

The Eagles are set to leave for Arizona and have a week of activity and practice ahead of Super Bowl LVII. Philadelphia is bringing its high-powered offense to the desert to play the Chiefs, another offensive juggernaut.

It will be Hurts’ first appearance in a Super Bowl and the third for Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.

In 2018, Foles filled in for an injured Carson Wentz to lead the Eagles to a Super Bowl LII win. The championship endeared him to the Eagles faithful, but Foles hasn’t found the same level of success since leaving the organization.

Foles was back in Philadelphia this week to testify in a medical lawsuit, according to the Inquirer. He took a minute outside the courtroom to talk about Hurts and his former team.

“Most importantly, he’s been leading the guys well, and they respond to him,” Foles said. “You can tell that when he steps on the field there is a huge effect on the game, and that’s what makes a player so valuable. And not only that, he doesn’t have to do it himself. He has great players around him. He’s got a great O-line. He’s got a great D. He’s got a great team.

Foles said there isn’t much that Hurts needs to change heading into the Super Bowl.

In leading the Eagles to a 14-3 regular-season record, Hurts threw for 3,701 yards and 21 TDs despite missing three games. He also rushed for 760 yards and 13 TDs.

“He’s had an MVP-caliber year,” Foles said.
