Deciding jersey numbers is always quite the ride for NFL rookies. Sometimes, they strive to grab one from a current player, and deals can be made. Other times, they'll look to favorite players from their past or someone they have a connection with to rock their number to start their pro career. It simply just depends.

For New Orleans Saints rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, he'll have a tough choice coming ahead of his first NFL campaign. His jersey number may be on a jersey flying off shelves if he starts off well to begin his Saints career.

Thomas Morstead offers his jersey number

The long-time Saints punter does not mind if the new QB wears number six, his jersey number from his tenure with New Orleans.

Morstead was a beloved piece of the organization during his time with the Saints and became one of the most consistent punters in all of the NFL throughout his playing career. He will always be remembered for his time in black and gold.

Shough acknowledges Saints history

Tyler Shough told @Sports360AZ that he will likely try to wear number 6. Pointed out that 6 and 18 are the numbers available, but also said it's not a big deal to him either way.

Shough would like to wear number six or eighteen, according to his radio interview. We will see if he can land on one of those by the time the offseason concludes.

No one should probably ever wear either of those numbers again in franchise history, and sHough understands that sentiment. Archie Manning wore the number eight, while Drew Brees wore number nine. Both are Saints legends and historic QBs.
