After an eight-year career in the NFL, running back Mike Davis announced his retirement on his 31st birthday.

Davis was a fourth-round draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2015, coming out of South Carolina. He saw limited opportunities there in two years before finally getting a chance to break into the league in 2017 with the Seattle Seahawks. There, Davis rushed for 754 yards and four touchdowns on 180 carries.

In 2019, he latched on with the Chicago Bears where he appeared in seven games before coming to the Carolina Panthers. When Christian McCaffrey went down in 2020, Davis stepped into the starting role and flourished, putting together his best year rushing for 642 yards and six scores. He also hauled in 59 passes for 373 yards and two touchdowns.

Davis spent the 2021 season with the Atlanta Falcons where he started eight games before giving way to Cordarrelle Patterson. In 2022, he appeared in eight games with the Baltimore Ravens which would be the last time we would see him in uniform.
