Former Raiders QB admits he 'didn't feel like himself' during final season in Las Vegas

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr admitted he felt distressed during his final, turbulent season with the Raiders.

"They just didn't get my best, and that drove me crazy at the end of the year because I felt so spread out in so many different ways," Carr said, per the Associated Press. "I just didn't feel like myself, and I feel bad for coaches and players."

Even though New Orleans signed the four-time Pro Bowler to a four-year, $150M contract, the QB once said, "I don't want to play anywhere else," except the Raiders, probably making his release from the franchise more difficult.

However, Carr needed a change of scenery after struggling to find his normal groove last season. In 15 games, he tied a career-high 14 interceptions, had his second-worst completion percentage (60.8 percent) since his rookie season and logged the second-lowest passer rating (86.3) of his career.

Perhaps Carr fell short of expectations because he didn't adjust to the system of new head coach Josh McDaniels. The four-time Pro Bowler acknowledged the coaching change was a challenge, but he plans to learn from it by keeping football "simple."

"I've tried to get back to that. Hopefully, it leads to some success," Carr said.

Although Carr's still reflecting on his time with the Raiders, he should feel excited about a new opportunity with the Saints. New Orleans has dynamic offensive playmakers, such as wide receiver Chris Olave and running back Jamaal Williams, who led the league in rushing TDs (17) last season. Additionally, the Saints were ninth in points allowed.

The Saints have the pieces to bounce back into the playoffs after missing them for two consecutive seasons, which could help Carr move on and turn around his career.
