The Buffalo Bills have been kind of hard to figure out so far this NFL season. They dropped their season opener in an upset loss to the New York Jets, but then proceeded to rout their opponents for three straight wins the following three weeks. However, this past Sunday, Buffalo reverted back to its Week 1 form in a 25-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London.

Former NFL offensive lineman Willie Colon—who won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers during his playing days—isn’t blaming the travel for the Bills’ Week 5 defeat, nor is he pointing the finger at the defense or any of the role players. Colon says the problem lies with Josh Allen.

On the surface, Allen’s numbers against the Jaguars didn’t look too bad. He went 27-for-40 with 359 yards, a couple of touchdowns and an interception.

However, it took a while for Allen and the Bills’ offense to get going, as they scored 13 of their 20 points in the fourth quarter. Colon is certainly right concerning Allen’s lack of consistency this season.

Through the first five games, Allen has thrown for 1,407 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 73.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 105.6.

Again, those stats are actually pretty good, but he hasn’t done it consistently. He registered a passer rating of 62.7 in Week 1 against the Jets and 79.9 in a Week 3 win over the Washington Commanders.

This is nothing new for Allen, either. The 27-year-old has struggled with consistency throughhout his NFL career, with many questioning his decision-making in key spots.

Allen has also been rather prone to turnovers, as he has tossed up 24 interceptions over his last 38 games dating back to 2021. Buffalo will look to get back on track when it takes on the New York Giants this coming Sunday.
