At this time last year, expectations were high for Cameron Dantzler, but after being released by the Buffalo Bills on Friday, Dantzler will be looking to play for his fourth team in the past five months.

Dantzler's offseason has been a whirlwind after he was cut by the Vikings last March. The former third-round pick was claimed by the Washington Commanders but was waived on June 1 before signing with the Bills before training camp.

There were no indications whether things weren't going well until Bills general manager Brandon Beane said on WGR in Buffalo that Dantzler "tweaked" his hamstring and it was "a two-to-three day type of situation."

Later on Thursday, ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg reported Dantzler arrived late to Thursday's practice without his helmet and the Bills made the roster move on Friday morning.

Dantzler's latest release is a reflection of what his career in the NFL has been so far. After coming into the league with size concerns, the Vikings selected him in the third round of the 2020 draft and he became a Day 1 starter in Mike Zimmer's defense.

Dantzler found himself in the doghouse behind struggling cornerback Bashaud Breeland the following season and played just 55 defensive snaps for Kevin O'Connell's defense last season.

A 6-foot-2, 188-pound cornerback, Dantzler will once again be looking for a new team but his NFL career appears to be on life support after his latest release.
