Seattle Seahawks free agent tight end Noah Fant should have enough suitors for his services. The 6-foot-5 241 241-pound athlete would help upgrade multiple teams’ tight end woes if he is acquired. In Indianapolis, the rumors are swirling around, and I am all ears.
Fant is a name to watch when free agency opens up. Hearing from multiple sources, three teams that came up as strong suitors for Fant were the Washington Commanders, the Miami Dolphins, and the Cincinnati Bengals. His height, weight, and speed would fit well with the talent on those offenses.
Miami Dolphins
I’ve been on record about the Dolphins needing to upgrade the tight-end position, potentially through the 2024 NFL Draft with TCU’s Jared Wiley. Adding Fant to this high-octane and explosive offense can alleviate some pressure off Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle. He can be their answer to man coverage and stretch the seams with a bigger, more athletic target in the middle of the field for Tua Tagovailoa.
Cincinnati Bengals
The combination of Drew Sample, Tanner Hudson, and Irv Smith Jr needs to improve. The trio of pass catchers accounted for 630 yards receiving combined in 2023. The Bengals still have a clear need for TE. Noah Fant’s abilities with a deadly accurate QB like Joe Burrow could be what the doctor ordered. With the weapons at Burrow’s disposal, he can attack one-on-one mismatches with all of the defense’s attention geared toward Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins (unless he’s traded). Fant could thrive with Burrow and the Bengals.
Washington Commanders
Lastly, the Commanders are expected to lose Logan Thomas to free agency. And even if he remained on the roster, they will need to improve the talent pool at the position. Fant will give their “future” rookie QB a talented pass catcher to lean on against linebackers and safeties.
Final word
Noah Fant has not been the most productive TE in the NFL but his talent is undeniable. If he lands in the right spot, his production level can rise.
