Giants HC Joe Judge to keep job despite 10-19 record?

The New York Giants will endure yet another losing season and fell to 4-9 on the campaign and to 10-19 overall under head coach Joe Judge with Sunday's 37-21 loss at the Los Angeles Chargers.

Giants co-owner John Mara offered verbal support of Judge in October and apparently still hasn't lost faith in the coach even though Big Blue isn't sniffing a playoff berth as winter approaches.

According to Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, Giants and NFL sources say Judge's job is safe through the upcoming offseason. Vacchiano reiterated previous reports that current New York general manager Dave Gettleman will be allowed to "retire" rather than be fired, and it seems Mara plans to marry Judge with a new GM instead of letting that to-be executive name his own coach.

"A few weeks ago I would’ve told you no chance he gets fired," one source told Vacchiano. "Now? Even after (the Giants’ 37-21 loss to the Chargers on Sunday), I’d probably still say 'No chance.' (Mara) loves Judge. He thinks he’s found his (Bill) Belichick or (Bill) Parcells. And there’s just no way he gives up on another coach this soon."

The source added Mara thinks Judge has brought positive "cultural and structural" changes to the Giants despite his poor record. Logic suggests Judge will now be able to make a decision on whether or not the Giants should pick up the fifth-year option attached to the rookie contract of quarterback Daniel Jones.

Jones is currently dealing with a neck injury that, per whispers, will end his season. The Giants haven't yet shut him down through Week 18.
