New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll has wasted no time filling the openings on his coaching staff, beginning that process with one of the most important hires he needed to make.

Daboll has hired Carmen Bricillo, formerly with the Raiders, to replace Bobby Johnson, who was direct on Monday. The Giants offensive line just finished a historically bad season in which it was charged with allowing 85 sacks, second most in league history behind the 1986 Philadelphia Eagles, who surrendered 104 sacks.

The 47-year-old Bricillo began his coaching career at the high school level in 2003 (Indiana Area HS) before moving on to various college posts as an offensive assistant/offensive line coach, including Duquesne, Akron, Illinois, and Youngstown State.

He landed his first NFL coaching job as a member of Bill Belichick's Patriots staff in 2019, hired as a coaching assistant. The following season, he was named co-offensive line coach, and then in 2021, he was named the lead offensive line coach by Belichick.

Bricillo was hired by Josh McDaniels in 2022 to be the Raiders offensive line coach, a position he still holds. Under Bricillo, the Raiders offensive line finished with an 86.3 pass-blocking efficiency rating on Pro Football Focus, tied for the sixth-best mark in the league this season.

The Raiders offensive line also allowed the third-fewest quarterback pressures (142) behind the Dolphins and Falcons, a marked improvement from the previous season when the unit allowed 200 pressures.

Bricillo was the only name publically linked to the Giants for their vacant offensive line coach job.
