Giants interview Bills' Brian Daboll a second time for HC job

Newly hired New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen most recently served as Buffalo Bills assistant general manager, so it made sense he wished to interview Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier virtually as soon as possible regarding New York's opening at head coach.

Daboll clearly impressed, as the Giants announced Tuesday they welcomed him to town to meet with Schoen, team co-owners John Mara and Steve Tisch, and senior vice president of player personnel Chris Mara. Daboll is the first candidate to have a second interview for the Giants' job since Big Blue dismissed Joe Judge earlier this month.

The Giants hosted Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn for an interview on Monday and met virtually with Daboll on Friday, with Frazier on Saturday, and with Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo on Sunday.

Daboll is high on the wish lists of many Giants fans for his work in helping Bills quarterback Josh Allen develop into a Most Valuable Player candidate, and the 46-year-old earned Associated Press NFL Assistant Coach of the Year honors for the 2020 season.

"I think teams would be foolish not to offer Brian Daboll a job," Allen told reporters coming off Sunday's overtime playoff loss at the Kansas City Chiefs. "I’m praying they don’t, because I want him back here, but I love him and his family too much to really think that. I think he’s one of the best coaches in the league."

Per Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk, the Giants will speak with current defensive coordinator Patrick Graham about their head-coach opening on Wednesday and with former Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores on Thursday.
