The New York Giants are addressing one of their biggest needs.

The Giants reached agreement on a three-year deal with offensive guard Jon Runyan.

He will slot in as a starter on the inside of the Giants OL. Expect John Michael-Schmitz to play center. The other starter at guard may not be on New York's roster currently.

Runyan is a solid player in pass protection. At just 26 years old, he has time to continue to develop as a run blocker as well.

The decision to sign Jon Runyan to the deal he received is intriguing. He’s good when he’s healthy, but he is consistently dinged up to where his play is affected. He even had to split reps with Sean Rhyan, who was a cut candidate heading into 2023, because of injuries affecting his play.

You never want to let injury drive your decision-making, but there are exceptions and the Giants should’ve placed Runyan in the exception category.

Runyan slots in at a starting spot, and $10M per year could look like a solid deal by next offseason. Other guards have gotten north of $15M per year during this offseason already.

That being said, he must stay available for NY. Hopefully, he will improve as a run blocker as well.
