Here's how accurate sportsbooks are with the Super Bowl Gatorade color prop bet
With as seriously as the sports betting world takes wagering on football, it seems sort of silly that the Gatorade color prop bet has become such a sticking point ahead of the Super Bowl.
But while betting on what color flows from the cooler and on top of the winning coach's head seems superfluous, there is some actual logic that goes behind who oddsmakers choose to be the favorite Gatorade color.
Multiple sportsbooks have tapped Yellow/Green as the favorite Gatorade color at Super Bowl 57, with Orange being the next favorite -- but those colors weren't pulled out of thin air.
According to BetMGM, Orange has been poured on the most times since 2001 (5), and Blue has appeared the most times since 2015 (4) including in 2022 when the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals.
As far as there being odds for there being no Gatorade shower at all, there have in fact been four instances when there was no Gatorade shower at all. Three of those four times were when the New England Patriots won, and it could be that players were too afraid to douse Bill Belichick with Gatorade.
It may not be an exact science, but there is at least some thought behind how the Gatorade colors get listed.
For the current Super Bowl, Yellow/Green is currently listed at +300 odds at DraftKings, with Orange nipping at its heels at +350. Blue comes in at +400 odds, with Red/Pink (+450), Clear/Water (+550), and Purple (+750). The "None" option is listed as a +1000 long shot.
