Coming off two tough loss, the Los Angeles Rams were looking to get back on track in Week 4 when they traveled to take on the Indianapolis Colts.
For a while it looked like it was gonna be a get-right game for the Rams as they jumped out to a 23-0 lead and seemed to be cruising to victory. The Colts came storming all the way back to tie it, however, sending the game to overtime at 23-23 before the Rams got the ball first and drove down the field for a game-winning touchdown to escape with a 29-23 victory.
As has been the case all season, rookie wide receiver Puka Nacua came up big for the Rams with nine receptions for 163 yards, including the game-winning touchdown.
Through his first four career games, Nacua has the most receptions (39) and yards (509) ever. He can go without a catch in Week 5 and still have the most receptions ever for a rookie through five weeks.
Kyren Williams also had a career day on the ground for L.A., carrying it 25 times for 103 yards and a pair of scores to go along with three receptions for 24 yards. His six touchdowns on the season are tied for the most in the NFL.
Other guys like Tutu Atwell, Van Jefferson and Tyler Higbee made some big catches on the day, helping out Matthew Stafford, who was playing through a hip injuries and made some massive throws to finish with 319 passing yards.
With Cooper Kupp potentially expected back next week, there is a ton of excitement surrounding this Rams offense and what they can be when whole.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Rams were great early as Aaron Donald and Ernest Jones each recorded a sack on rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson. Jordan Fuller also forced a fumble on Richardson, which was recovered by Ahkello Witherspoon.
Richardson still did a nice job of bringing his team back though, finishing with 200 passing yards and two touchdowns to go along with 56 rushing yards and another score on the ground. Even though Richardson wasn’t able to get a win in this one, the future is definitely bright for him and the Colts.
Up next for the Rams…
After playing three of their first four games on the road, the Rams will return home in Week 5. It will be no easy task, however, as they are hosting the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles at SoFi Stadium.
The Eagles are one of the more physical teams in the league when it comes to the trenches so the Rams will have to match that physicality if they want to have a chance to pull off the upset.
