How Jaire Alexander will help Green Bay's young receivers

The Green Bay Packers were forced to add four new receivers this offseason after the losses of All-Pro Davante Adams and speedster Marquez Valdes-Scantling. They signed free agent receiver Sammy Watkins to a one-year deal and drafted three rookies in April's draft, including North Dakota State's Christian Watson, Nevada's Romeo Doubs, and Nebraska's Samori Toure. Watkins will be going into his ninth season in the NFL, so he has been around the block. The three rookies are going to have to get up to speed with playing in the NFL and with Aaron Rodgers. There is one unlikely source that can help the rookie receivers get up to speed. That player is Green Bay's All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander.

Last month, Alexander talked about how he can help Green Bay's rookie receivers become great. "I'm going to make it as hard as I can for those guys because I know on Sunday it's going to pay off. Iron sharpens iron...However I can help to make them better, I'm going to do that," the Pro Bowl cornerback told the Green Bay media during the team's OTA period.

Going up against No. 23 every single day at practice will help the likes of Watson, Doubs, and Toure become better NFL receivers. Having an elite cornerback to go up against every single practice is something that very few teams with rookie receivers have. It goes both ways too. When Alexander was a rookie, he went up against Davante Adams and Randall Cobb in practice every single day. That turned him into an All-Pro defender. If Alexander can do the same with these young receivers, this Green Bay offense could take the league by storm. Also, it is not like Green Bay has some mediocre quarterback taking the snap from under center. With Aaron Rodgers throwing them passes while they go up against a top-level cornerback, they will quickly get up to speed in Green Bay.
