The Miami Dolphins could in a sense undo what they've just done, as they have cut cornerback Kelvin Joseph, who was acquired in an August trade with the Dallas Cowboys that brought cornerback Noah Igbinoghene to DFW - in part depending on a certain "Ferrari'' angle.

But for now? The high hopes for Joseph have again hit a dip.

It was at the time nothing more than a "change of scenery'' deal for both teams. "Iggy'' was a disappointing Dolphins first-round pick, and "BossMan Fat'' - Joseph's aspiring-rapper stage name - was a disappointing Cowboys second-round pick.

In Dallas, Joseph not only struggled to make plays on the field, finally settling into a role as a semi-helper on special teams; his involvement in a shooting death in the 2022 offseason - though he was cleared of any direct wrongdoing - remains haunting in many ways.

What problems did he encounter in Miami? Nothing at all that drastic. But once again, he was mostly limited to special-teams play, when he played at all; Joseph played in four of Miami's games this season and was a healthy scratch in five others. He got all of his 21 defensive snaps at the end of back-to-back blowout games.

He did get caught up in a numbers game - which could clear up a bit later this week if he clears waivers and the Dolphins choose to re-sign him to the practice squad, a concept noted here. That numbers game has unfolded in two ways ...

One, Miami suddenly has its depth at cornerback because of Jalen Ramsey's recent return to the active roster.

Two, Tuesday marked the last day the Dolphins could add rehabbing receiver River Cracraft back to the roster, and they wanted to do that in part as insurance against any other problems at wideout, where four guys are banged up, a list that includes superstar Tyreek Hill.

Miami coach Mike McDaniel has labeled the management of Hill's nagging issues as "Ferrari" maintenance - and the "just-in-case'' concern there has contributed to Kelvin Joseph now looking for work.
