Impressive stat favors Eagles ahead of Super Bowl LVII

The Philadelphia Eagles advanced to the Super Bowl on Sunday for the fourth time in franchise history after defeating the San Francisco 49ers 31-7 in the NFC Championship Game.

Philadelphia's dominant performance this postseason bodes well for its chances at hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in two weeks. According to ESPN Stats and Info, the Eagles are only the fifth team to win the divisional playoff and conference title games by at least 21 points. Furthermore, the four teams to accomplish the feat before the Eagles ultimately won the Super Bowl.

Following a 14-3 finish to the regular season, the Eagles earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye. Philly's playoff run began with a bang in the divisional round, where they smashed NFC East rival the New York Giants by 31 points, 38-7. On Sunday, the Eagles picked up where they left off, downing the Niners by 24 points.

The story of Sunday's NFC title game was the continuation of the 49ers' quarterback carousel. Starter Brock Purdy went down in the first half with an elbow injury to his throwing arm, forcing veteran Josh Johnson into the game. Johnson went down with a similar injury in the second half and had to be replaced by Purdy, who was virtually useless without the ability to throw.

With the 49ers' quarterback situation in flux, the Eagles' defense took advantage. Philadelphia forced three fumbles and held San Francisco to only 11 first downs and 164 total yards of offense in the victory.

On Feb. 12, the Eagles will look to win the franchise's second Super Bowl title after winning it's first back in 2017. According to Oddschecker, sportsbooks have the Eagles listed as the favorite to win the Super Bowl at +105.
