Inexplicable fourth-down call a reminder Raiders HC Josh McDaniels is in over his head

Josh McDaniels continues to tell us he isn't cut out to be an NFL head coach.

Las Vegas (2-3) held on for a 17-13 win against Green Bay (2-3) despite McDaniels allowing the Packers an opportunity to win the game in the final minute.

Faced with a fourth-and-one at the two-minute warning and with Green Bay having no timeouts, McDaniels elected to attempt a 52-yard field goal with Daniel Carlson game instead of trying to gain the first down.

Did McDaniels forget he has Josh Jacobs? Has he never seen Philadelphia bring out the "brotherly shove?" His questionable decision didn't come back to haunt him thanks to the Raiders' defense, which ended Green Bay's final drive with its third interception of quarterback Jordan Love.

McDaniels made the win much harder than it had to be, particularly with edge rusher Maxx Crosby playing like an All-Pro, finishing the game with one sack and four tackles for loss.

McDaniels almost wasted that performance by not trusting his offense to gain a yard. Even if Carlson made the field goal, Green Bay would have had a chance to score a touchdown - and potentially win the game with a two-point conversion.

ESPN Analytics shows that going for it would have been the correct call; the Raiders' win probability increased from 85.7 percent with a field goal attempt to 90.4 percent by going for it.

McDaniels was loudly criticized for his poor decision.

The Raiders escaped Week 5 with a victory, but how many more games can they be expected to win with McDaniels holding them back?
