Jaguars DB recalls another wild story involving Urban Meyer
Jacksonville Jaguars safety Andrew Wingard recently recalled yet another jaw-dropping anecdote from Urban Meyer's brief run as the team's head coach during the 2021 season.
During an interview with Tyler Dunne of "Go Long," Wingard looked back at a conversation he had with Meyer following a blowout defeat against the Seattle Seahawks.
This isn't the first time since Meyer's firing that the 26-year-old defensive back has spoken out about his former boss.
In November, while discussing the improvement of quarterback Trevor Lawrence, Wingard took a shot at the former Florida and Ohio State leader, saying that he was "so happy" for the signal-caller because "he had to deal with Urban Meyer last year."
During Meyer's 11-month tenure in Jacksonville, the 59-year-old was embroiled in scandal after scandal.
In October 2021, a viral video that showed a young woman dancing suggestively against Meyer's leg at an Ohio bar was released. This came days after it was learned that Meyer didn't fly home with his team from Cincinnati following a loss to the Bengals.
In December of that year, one day before Meyer was fired, former kicker Josh Lambo came forward with an allegation that the coach not only bullied him, but kicked him during a practice earlier in the season.
Now entering their second year of the Doug Pederson era, the Jaguars are fortunately in a much better place and are looking to build off last season's surprising playoff appearance and subsequent comeback win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
With the likes of Lawrence, running back Travis Etienne, tight end Evan Engram and wide receivers Christian Kirk and Calvin Ridley taking the field on offense, the anticipation is high in Duval County.
