One of the most fascinating stories last offseason for the Seattle Seahawks was the meteoric rise of undrafted free agent receiver Jake Bobo.
After impressing during OTAs, minicamp and then training camp, Bobo was given reps during the Seahawks' preseason games. He flourished, hauling in seven catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns in Seattle's three preseason games.
That led to him making the 53-man roster and he had a chance to stake his claim in Shane Waldron's offense.
Bobo had a slow start to the year, catching just two balls for eight yards in his first four games, but then produced a solid three-week block where he had eight receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown. Things were moving in the right direction.
But as we often see, the long, arduous grind of the NFL season for rookies is tough. Bobo would barely make an impression down the stretch as he could only managed nine catches for 61 yards in Seattle's final 10 games.
But now, after a rookie season that had some ups and downs, could we see more Bobo in 2024?
We have detailed the unlikely situation in which veteran receiver Tyler Lockett could be moved on in the offseason due to his $26.895 million salary-cap figure, so that could open up a spot on Ryan Grubb's offense.
Still, even if Lockett remains, Bobo showed enough last season to perhaps warrant more snaps on offense. With Grubb's offense for the Washington Huskies last season having two 1,000-yard receivers, the want to pass the ball all over the field could translate to the NFL, and maybe mean more chances for Bobo.
Bobo was a bolt from the blue last offseason, but now he is a known commodity after showing what he is capable of.
