Jalen Hurts has been battling an illness leading up to the Philadelphia Eagles’ game against the Seattle Seahawks, but it sounds like the star quarterback plans to play.

Taylor Bisciotti of NFL Network reports that Hurts “is definitely going to try and play” on Monday night. Hurts began feeling ill on Thursday and had a fever and body aches over the weekend.

Bisciotti’s colleague Ian Rapoport added that Hurts has experienced flu-like symptoms but does not have the flu.

Hurts did not practice on Friday due to the illness. He was then downgraded to questionable on Sunday after he reportedly began feeling worse the night before.

Hurts is coming off a poor performance in Philadelphia’s 33-13 loss to the Dallas Cowboys last week. The Eagles also looked outclassed in a 42-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers the week before, so they have not fared well against the NFC’s best teams.

If Hurts cannot play on Monday night, backup Marcus Mariota would get the start. The 10-3 Eagles could tie the 49ers and Ravens for the best record in football with a win Monday night, but they would face an uphill battle in a tough road game if Hurts sits.
