Jets HC provides promising injury update on second-year RB

Jets head coach Robert Saleh believes running back Breece Hall could recuperate quickly after suffering a season-ending ACL tear in 2022.

"I'm very optimistic on that one," Saleh said of Hall's recovery in a Wednesday news conference. "I don't want to jinx it (knocks on wood). I mean, the kid's already hitting 22 (miles per hour) on the GPS."

Hall is regaining speed, but the Jets aren't rushing his recovery. They're not letting him practice during OTAs, per Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. Hall had surgery six months ago, so giving him more time to heal makes sense.

It's unclear if he'll be ready for training camp in July as recovering from ACL surgery can take a year. Nevertheless, Saleh believes "he won't be limited during training camp."

The optimism about Hall's progress inspires confidence. He only played in seven games during his rookie season but flashed star potential.
The 22-year-old rushed for 463 yards on 80 carries (5.8 yards per attempt), caught 19 receptions for 218 yards (11.5 yards per reception) and scored five TDs. Hall also earned Offensive Rookie of the Week honors in Weeks 4 and 6.

If Hall recaptures his form, the Jets could boast one of the league's most dynamic offenses. Aaron Rodgers, a four-time league MVP, could solve their quarterback problem, and wide receiver Garrett Wilson should raise his game after winning 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

The Jets haven't made the playoffs in 12 years, the longest drought in North American sports. A high-powered offense could help break it.
