What will it take for Aaron Rodgers to enter the 'GOAT' conversation?

While new Jets QB Aaron Rodgers is undeniably one of the most talented quarterbacks in NFL history, his resume lacks the credentials to be considered the greatest of all time.

However, retired defensive end and current ESPN analyst Chris Canty believes Rodgers can enter the "GOAT" conversation if he guides the Jets to his—and their—second Super Bowl victory.

"[Rodgers would] absolutely be in the GOAT conversation—top-five quarterbacks of all-time," Canty said on Monday's "Get Up." "You've gotta have multiple championships to be here, right? You're talking about Tom Brady, you're talking about Joe Montana, you're talking about Peyton Manning, you're talking about John Elway. Hell, you're talking about Pat Mahomes. Aaron Rodgers ain't there. He's only won one chip, only been to one Super Bowl."

"If he would be able to exorcise those demons, in his words, 'keep that Lombardi Trophy case in Floral Park from being so lonely' and another one to it?" Canty continued. "Then yeah, all of a sudden, we're talking about the four-time MVP being in the conversation for the greatest quarterbacks of all time."

New York made the most notable offseason acquisition, bringing in Rodgers after narrowly missing the playoffs last season with Zach Wilson, Joe Flacco and Mike White all making starts. Having a well-balanced offense and imposing defense, New York gives Rodgers a stronger supporting cast to win a Super Bowl than his recent Green Bay teams.

Despite that, even if Rodgers won a title with the Jets, he wouldn't be regarded in the same category as Brady, a seven-time champ and the NFL's all-time leading passer.

Even Mahomes has achieved more postseason success than Rodgers and has done so in significantly less time. The 27-year-old has made three Super Bowl appearances, winning twice, and somewhat surprisingly, has won just one fewer playoff game than Rodgers. He's 11-3 in the postseason compared to Rodgers' 12-10 record.

Leading the Jets, who have the longest active playoff drought in North American sports, to a title might be one of the more impressive Super Bowl victories in recent history. Nevertheless, if anyone is going to challenge Brady in the “GOAT” debate, it'll be Mahomes.
