Jim Irsay: Colts will have new HC within 'days not hours'

The Indianapolis Colts need a new head coach, but it doesn't appear that owner Jim Irsay is in a rush to make his decision.

It has been three months since Irsay fired Frank Reich after a 3-5-1 start and despite having already had two rounds of interviews and seeing multiple vacancies filled across the league — including Reich getting an opportunity to redeem himself as head coach of the Carolina Panthers — Indy still doesn't have a head coach.

According to Irsay on Twitter, it doesn't sound like a decision will come anytime soon, either. There's an old saying when something is imminent that it will happen "within days, if not hours."

Irsay flipped that phrase on its head, saying that the Colts will have a final decision "coming in days not hours.'

There is potential that Irsay just botched the phrase and forgot to add an "if not" but it's worth noting that the Colts are apparently turning over every leaf and they don't appear to be in a hurry.

Jeff Saturday, who went 1-7 as interim head coach and did interview for the full-time job, seems less and less likely to be chosen by the Colts.

If he does somehow get the job despite those eight games being his only real NFL coaching experience, there are thousands of Colts fans who will be disappointed.

The available coaches who have been interviewed are as follows: Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan, Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen, Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale, Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, and Saturday.

Ejiro Evero, former Denver Broncos defensive coordinator, was also interviewed twice, but he decided to join Reich in Carolina as the Panthers' defensive coordinator.
