J.J. Watt announces role at CBS this season

J.J. Watt is joining what looks like a crowded crew as he announced a multi-year deal to join "The NFL Today" on CBS this fall.

When announcing his career move, Watt jokingly announced he got a job at CVS before quickly correcting himself in a follow-up tweet.

CVS probably would have a bigger need for him than CBS. Since 2017, "The NFL Today" has featured host James Brown, former Steelers head coach Bill Cowher, former wide receiver Nate Burleson and former quarterbacks Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms.

Earlier this offseason, CBS also added former Falcons QB Matt Ryan to its roster.

It's unclear who is getting the axe or if producers plan on cramming everyone at the desk, each getting 10 seconds to speak.

But honestly, why should CBS stop at Watt? Shannon Sharpe is available. He was already a studio analyst for the show from 2004-13, too. And instead of trying to fit everyone into one frame, take a page from "The Brady Bunch" and have them all in their own little square shouting over each other.

What could possibly go wrong?

Watt announced his retirement on Dec. 27, ending a 12-year career. He sacked 50 quarterbacks during his NFL career and if CBS cuts back on its studio crew at Esiason's or Simms' expense, he'll add two more to his total.
