Julian Edelman: Jimmy Garoppolo gives 49ers better chance to get to 'Handsome Bowl' than Trey Lance
Count Super Bowl LIII MVP Julian Edelman among those who believe that the San Francisco 49ers are in better position now that they have Jimmy Garoppolo under center again, instead of second-year pro Trey Lance.
With the likes of former then-St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz having bashed Lance (pre-injury) recently, and reports that current Rams folks (and even Niners camp) feel that the team by the Bay is better suited to compete this season now, Edelman got in on the chatter during his recent appearance on "Inside the NFL."
The former New England Patriots wide receiver noted how impressed he was with "Jimmy G" -- an ex-teammate of his -- and predicted just how far he could see the signal-caller leading the San Francisco this winter.
One of Garoppolo's other nicknames across the league is "Jimmy GQ," and with his pearly whites and tanned face, the 30-year-old has often been affectionately known as one of the more "handsome" faces in the game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback of course, is another face that fans have famously fawned over for years in Tom Brady.
With Brady now in his 23rd season and having turned 45 years old over the summer, some fans speculated that the "GOAT" spent his mysterious 11-day training camp absence getting plastic surgery.
