Julio Jones expected to make his Eagles debut on Sunday

Julio Jones is expected to make his debut for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night against the Miami Dolphins after being elevated from the team's practice squad on Saturday.

The Eagles signed Jones, a seven-time Pro Bowler, to their practice squad this week but were initially taking it slow with him to bring him up to speed in the offense and make sure he was healthy.

During his peak Jones was one of the best wide receivers in football, but age and injuries have severely limited him in recent years.

He has appeared in just 29 regular season games over the past three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He made 10 appearances for the Buccaneers during the 2022 season, catching 24 passes for 299 yards. He has not had more than 775 yards receiving in a single season since the 2019 season.

Even though he is not the player he once was, he can still be a solid veteran addition to an already loaded Eagles wide receiver corps that features A.J. Brown and DaVonta Smith.

The presence of those two as the go-to options for quarterback Jalen Hurts will certainly take some of the pressure and expectation off of Jones.

He is not going to need to be anything more than a complementary piece, and given his age and experience that might be a perfect role for him.

Sunday's game is going to be one of the most anticipated games of the 2023 regular season as both teams look like potential Super Bowl contenders.

The Eagles are 5-1 and coming off of a Super Bowl appearance a year ago, while the Dolphins feature the league's best offense and have been scoring over 35 points per game.
