After weeks of speculation, Pittsburgh Steelers fans finally know what jersey number new quarterback Justin Fields will wear with the black and gold.

Fields and 10 more new Steelers players have been assigned their jersey numbers, according to an article by Teresa Varley on the Pittsburgh Steelers website. While some of the numbers are ones we’d expect to see on these veteran players, there are also a few surprises.

As Varley reports, except for Fields, quarterback Russell Wilson, and linebacker Patrick Queen, the numbers are still subject to change.

Justin Fields will wear No. 2 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fields wore No. 1 during his first three seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and in college at Ohio State. However, there was good reason Fields would not be allowed to wear No. 1 with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In addition to Fields, here are 10 more new Pittsburgh Steelers and their recently assigned jersey numbers.

New Pittsburgh Steelers Players Jersey Numbers

3. Russell Wilson (QB)

This one is no surprise. Wilson wore three in Seattle and Denver. His No. 3 Steelers jersey has been available in the NFL Shop for weeks.

4. Kyle Allen (QB)

Allen is the frontrunner for the QB3 spot early this offseason. He wore No. 7 during his first two years in the NFL with Carolina, No. 8 for two years with Washington, No. 3 with Houston, and No. 9 last season with Buffalo.

5. Cameron Johnston (P)

Johnston previously wore No. 1 for three seasons in Philly, then No. 11 for three seasons in Houston.

6. Patrick Queen (LB)

Queen will be the first Steelers linebacker to wear a single-digit number since Melvin Ingram briefly wore No. 8 in 2021. Queen wore No. 48 his rookie season in Baltimore, then switched to six when the NFL relaxed its jersey number rules in 2021.

11. Van Jefferson (WR)

Jefferson and Quez Watkins will be in the running for the currently unoccupied WR2 spot vacated when the Steelers traded Diontae Johnson to Carolina. Jefferson previously wore No. 12 with the Rams and No. 15 in Atlanta.

16. Quez Watkins (WR)

Watkins wore No. 80 during his rookie season in Philadelphia, then switched to 16 for his last three seasons with the Eagles.

25. DeShon Elliott (S)

Elliot previously wore No. 32 during his first three seasons with the Ravens. (Franco Harris, the greatest Pittsburgh Steelers running back of all time,  wore 32 from 1972 to 1983, and it is one of three jerseys retired by the franchise.) Elliott wore No. 5 in Detriot, and No. 21 last season in Miami.

26. Donte Jackson (CB)

Jackson will be a strong contributor in a currently underpopulated Steelers cornerback room. He wore 26 in all six seasons with Carolina.

84. Cordarrelle Patterson (RB/KR)

Four-time All-Pro Patterson is a huge get for the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason. He’s one of the best kick returners in NFL history and can play a role on offense. He’ll continue to wear the No. 84 he’s donned throughout his career. No Steeler has worn 84 since Antonio Brown in 2018.

94 Dean Lowry (DE)

Lowry will provide some quality depth on the defensive front behind Cameron Heyward and Larry Ogunjobi. He’s worn 94 every season of his NFL career thus far with both Green Bay and Minnesota.
