Justin Herbert wants Chargers to draft former teammate Penei Sewell

As the NFL draft approaches, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert hasn't been shy about letting the team know who he wants.

The Chargers have nine picks in this year's draft, and the team is reportedly keeping an eye on one of the best offensive tackles available. According to Pro Football Talk's Charean Williams, Herbert has not been shy about expressing his desire for former Oregon teammate Penei Sewell to join him in L.A.

The Chargers are in need of an offensive tackle after going 7-9 last season. Herbert lobbying for Sewell is a no-brainer.

Sewell opted out of his junior season with the Ducks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, he proved his worth during his freshman and sophomore seasons, earning First-Team All-PAC-12 honors and was unanimously selected as First-Team All-American in 2019.

Oregon had a record of 21-6 in Sewell's two seasons with the program.

If the Chargers don't land Sewell, they could select Northwestern's Rashawn Slater or Virginia Tech's Christian Darrisaw.
