Kansas sports betting launches Sept. 1

Legalized sports betting is coming to Kansas in time for the NFL season.

Gov. Laura Kelly announced Thursday that the state will allow wagering in person and via mobile devices at four state-owned casinos starting Sept. 1.

"Legalizing sports betting is a common-sense solution that keeps Kansans' money in Kansas and drives business to sporting events, casinos, restaurants, and other entertainment venues," Kelly said in a statement. "I want to thank all our partners for working with us to get this done in time for football season."

The Kansas sports betting market is set to launch in just under two weeks, with September 1 being the set date. Kansas sports bettors can get ahead of the action and unlock a free $200 no-deposit bonus by registering for the BetMGM bonus code today.  

Sports betting will open across the state on Sept. 8 and will be overseen by the Kansas Lottery.

The NFL regular season starts Sept. 8, and the Kansas City Chiefs open their season on Sept. 11 against the host Arizona Cardinals.

The American Gaming Association says 36 states have legalized sports betting since 2018, when the U.S. Supreme Court overturned a law that had limited such wagering to Nevada.
