Kenny Pickett reacts to Steelers 2023 draft class
Many believe the Steelers assembled one of the best draft classes in 2023, and second-year QB Kenny Pickett gave his take on Pittsburgh's newest additions.
"I think we did a great job," Pickett said on the "Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger" podcast. "The defense is strong, and they got a lot stronger with the pieces they have. I think it was a really successful offseason for us."
The Steelers added CB Joey Porter Jr. and DT Keeanu Benton in the second round, LB Nick Herbig in the fourth round and CB Cory Trice Jr. in the seventh round. However, Pittsburgh's massive first and third-round picks should have Pickett smiling ear to ear as well.
Pickett now has his future blindside blocker in 6-foot-5, 311 pound left tackle Broderick Jones and a new shiny weapon in 6-foot-7, 270 pound TE Darnell Washington.
"Having guys up front, I think we had a great group already but having depth, seeing how many injuries happen in an NFL season...adding depth is special," Pickett added. "Having another added piece at tight end I think could really help us be more versatile and have more personnels in there."
It certainly feels like Pickett has given his stamp of approval as Pittsburgh has set him up for success heading into his sophomore season.
The Steelers should take a leap in 2023, but how big of one is still to be determined.
