While the NFL is nearing its return as it churns through the preseason, the NBA offseason remains on hold as the Brooklyn Nets figure out what to do with Kevin Durant.

Durant requested a trade from the Nets at the beginning of free agency, and since then teams have been in a holding pattern as the franchise sifts through offers for their superstar. So far, no team has been able to meet Brooklyn’s astronomical asking price for Durant though talks may begin to pick up again after Nets owner Joe Tsai refused to cave in to demands to fire general manager Sean Marks and head coach Steven Nash.

Though Durant himself has been quiet, he managed to go viral on social media after tweeting out he was going to be a Los Angeles Rams fan after seeing rookie cornerback Decobie Durant on the field:

In good fun, Decobie responded to the Nets forward:

Unlike the Nets star, Decobie is still trying to make a name for himself in the NFL after being selected by the Rams 142nd overall. So far, Los Angeles has to be pleased with how the rookie’s been doing as he’s made several plays in preseason that have some believing he’ll push for snaps early in his career.

Despite being undersized, the South Carolina product has a knack for tracking the football and is able to make plays in coverage. He also plays with a chip on his shoulder, an attitude that should serve him well as he tries to help the Rams get back to the mountaintop.
