King of Props: Adams is like family
Chemistry between a quarterback and a receiver is a fundamental part of offensive success in the NFL. The Rams took that concept to new heights last season when Matthew Stafford connected with Cooper Kupp so many times that the latter became the first man since 2005 to capture receiving’s Triple Crown. But with injuries having sidelined both of those players, it’s the prolific pairing on the other side of tonight’s game that we like to deliver our top prop:
The bet: Over 88½ receiving yards for Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams (FanDuel)
During his eight years with the Packers, Adams established himself as the go-to guy for Aaron Rodgers and posted three seasons of more than 1,300 receiving yards. Now he’s on pace to establish a new career high thanks to a kinship with Derek Carr, his former quarterback at Fresno State.
The trade that reunited them in Las Vegas has been paying huge dividends since the start of November. Adams has exceeded 125 yards in four of the last five games, including going for a season-high 177 in Sunday’s win over the Chargers, and he’s averaging 98 yards per game on the year.
The Rams’ 22nd-ranked pass defense has been especially porous lately, allowing the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes and the Seahawks’ Geno Smith to put up respective totals of 320 and 367 yards. Without having to face the pressure usually provided by injured All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Carr should be able to sit in the pocket and find Adams for big gains.
