King of Props: Dre day

The last time the Patriots took on the Lions, current play caller Matt Patricia — don’t you dare use the term offensive coordinator — bested mentor Bill Belichick as Detroit won 26-10 in 2018. But the last time they did so while wearing the “Pat Patriot” throwback uniforms they’re sporting today? New England cruised to a 45-24 victory on Thanksgiving Day of 2010. Expecting a result closer to the latter, we’re backing a player who should feast:

The bet: Over 72½ rushing and receiving yards for Patriots running back Rhamondre Stevenson (FanDuel)

Despite splitting time with Damien Harris, Stevenson has exceeded this total in each of his last two games. He gashed the Ravens for 101 yards from scrimmage in Week 3 and then amassed a total of 89 yards versus the Packers a week ago.

Stevenson has earned more carries as the season has progressed (8, 9, 12, 14), which bodes well against a Lions defense that allows a league-worst 5.6 rushing yards per attempt. Even better, he has assumed the role of passing-down back in the absence of Ty Montgomery, posting four catches and more than 20 receiving yards in two straight.

With rookie Bailey Zappe making his first start at quarterback, the Patriots are likely to rely heavily on their running backs. Stevenson will get plenty of touches — and might deliver a winner on the ground alone.
